Lowestoft Lions continue their support for boxing club
A boxing club that has enjoyed support from Lowestoft Lions for a number of years has been rewarded for their recent display of fighting skills.
Members of the boxing club took part in the Lions Annual Boxing Dinner held at Pontins Holiday Centre; Pakefield in February, when 220 diners enjoyed12 well fought action bouts.
Recently their efforts were acknowledged when Derek Ward, the President of Lowestoft Lions, presented a cheque for £1000 to Carlo Moss who accepted it on behalf of the boxing club.
Head Coach Colin Stephenson expressed his gratitude for the support shown by the Lions Club and in particular praised organisers Ivan Gilbert and Glyn Page.
He said; “It is always a good evening at Pontins and while the Lions work hard to bring in the diners, we work equally hard to provide an entertaining evening of boxing. We will use the cash to meet our running costs and upkeep of the premises in Herring Fisheries Score.“
Both junior and senior boxers train at the club on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30 – 9.00pm to develop their fitness and self-discipline. Potential boxers who wish to find out more can visit the club on training evenings or call 01502 517881.
