Lowestoft Lions continue their support for boxing club

Youngsters at a boxing club will be able to continue to enjoy their sport thanks in a large part to the on-going support from Lowestoft Lions.

Recently Lions Glyn Page and Ivan Gilbert accompanied Michael Cook, the President of Lowestoft Lions, as he presented a cheque for £750 to the Lowestoft Amateur Boxing Club.

For many years members of the boxing club have taken part in the Lions Boxing Dinner at Pontins Holiday Centre; Pakefield in February, but sadly this year it has not been possible to organise the event – although hopes are high for next year.

Head Coach Colin Stephenson expressed his gratitude for the support shown by the Lions Club. He said; “We will use the cash to meet our running costs and upkeep of the premises in Herring Fisheries Score so that our young boxers can develop their skills as well as fitness and self-discipline.“

  • Both junior and senior boxers train at the club on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30 – 9.00pm. Potential boxers who wish to find out more can visit the club on training evenings or call 01502 517881.
