Lions Club President chosen to open new Lowestoft B&M store
Lowestoft Lions Club was honoured to be chosen, alongside the Deputy Mayor, to open a new store in the town’s main shopping centre.
Retail giant B&M opened its new Lowestoft store, in London Road North on February 23 and Lions President Derek Ward together with Deputy Mayor Peter Knight were there to cut the ribbon.
BHS previously occupied the large unit but since the company collapsed in August 2016 the prime shopping location had been left empty. The store has since undergone an internal and external refurbishment and its opening has generated more than 60 jobs for local people.
As part of the store’s official opening, £250 worth of B&M vouchers was presented to the Lions to use in their community work.
Paige Capps, manager of the new store, said: “The team from Lowestoft Lions Club really stood out for us. We hope that our donation will help them to continue all the great work they do.”
Lion Derek Ward said “Lowestoft Lions are really grateful to B&M for their generous donation. I have had a chance to look around the new store and it is really bright and appealing. It will be a welcome addition to the town centre shopping experience.”
