Lowestoft Lions Sportsman’s Dinner Success

Lowestoft Lions first Sportsman Dinner has been hailed as a success with over 120 guests enjoying the visit of Terry Butcher to the Ivy House Country Hotel.
After a tasty meal the guests were entertained by local comedian Ian Richards before Terry Butcher gave an insight into his football career. He recalled his school days playing football in Lowestoft and told stories about some of the characters he had met over the years.

During his playing career as a defender he captained the England national team, won 77 caps in a ten-year international career that featured three FIFA World Cups. He also enjoyed success in his club career, particularly with Ipswich Town and Rangers. He has subsequently managed clubs in England, Scotland, Australia and Wales, and also had a brief spell in charge of the Philippines national team.
Organiser Glyn Page said “The evening was a big success for Lowestoft Lions. The ‘Heads and Tails’ fundraiser game went well and together with ticket sales helped to raise a worthwhile sum for the Lions charity account, which assists community groups and individuals who are in need.”
