Sylvia and Russell entertain the children for the last time

For many years they have been an integral part of Gala Day keeping a generation of children entertained – but now a popular pair have decided to call it a day and put away their music and games and to put their feet up. Russell and Sylvia Clarke have not only brought their K-Syl-R Roadshow to Gala day but they have also been at the Easter Egg Hunt in Sparrow’s Nest almost since the Lions have been running it.

Lion President Michael Cook said “Russell and Sylvia have done a brilliant job for us over the years and their popularity made them an obvious first choice when we are organising our events. We thank them for doing such a great job for us and wish them well in their retirement from the event scene – although we understand that they will still carry on with their dance classes around the area.”

Posting on Facebook Russell and Sylvia said “After 45 – 46 years K-Syl-R will be doing their last ever children’s event. We have had the most wonderful journey, working and playing with the Lowestoft children. 22 years at Sparrows Nest, 27 years at Lothingland and many other schools, Easter Egg Hunts with the Lions at Sparrow’s Nest, weddings, parties and carnival fun days – we have enjoyed them all. But now the Oulton Broad Gala Day on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August will be our last event ever. The K–Syl-R Roadshow thanks Lowestoft for being so good for us. Thanks to everyone we have ever met on this wonderful journey. It’s been a blast and we have loved all of it”
